JE VOUDRAIS and J’AIMERAIS - Today’s French
JE VOUDRAIS and J’AIMERAIS
I would like et I would love
The other day, David was asking me a question about JE VOUDRAIS and J’AIMERAIS.
JE VOUDRAIS is the present conditional form of VOULOIR – TO WANT
J’AIMERAIS is the present conditional form of AIMER – TO LIKE or TO LOVE
The fact is that they both mean kind of the same thing. They’re often both translated by “I’d like”.
Je voudrais un café et un croissant. -> I’d like a cup of coffee and a croissant.
J’aimerais un café et un croissant. -> I’d like a cup of coffee and a croissant.
