10 nuances de MAL – 10 shades of MAL

It’s not that intuitive to describe pain – MAL – in French, and to know what verb to use. I compiled this list of the main uses of MAL. Listen, copy, download, practice again and again and learn French with me. So much fun !

  1. avoir mal …. to hurt
  2. avoir mal à …. to hurt somewhere
  3. avoir du mal à …. to find it difficult to, have trouble, to have a hard time (doing something)
  4. faire mal à quelqu’un …. to hurt someone physically or mentally
  5. se faire mal …. to hurt oneself
  6. s’être fait mal …. to hurt in the past
  7. faire mal …. to hurt to
  8. se trouver mal, avoir un malaise …. to feel faint
  9. aller mal …. to be unwell, to feel bad physically or emotionally
  10. se sentir mal …. to be unwell, to feel bad physically or emotionally

Translate the sentences from one column to another. From French to English (la version) is easier, from English to French (la thèse) a bit more challenging.

Traduisez les phrases d’une colonne à une autre. Du français en anglais (la version) est plus facile, de l’anglais au français (la thèse) un peu plus difficile.
