sur ce - on that note - Mot du Jour

sur ce - on this. sur ce is short for sur le sujet dont on vient de parler - on the subject of which we have just spoken; or sur ce que je viens de dire - on what I have just said. sur ce means ‘on that note’.

• « On s’est bien amusés mais il est tard maintenant. Sur ce, je vais me coucher. »
  • “We had fun but it’s late now. On that not, I’m going to bed.”
