on ne peut plus – French expression
on ne peut plus – so very – French expression – Mot du Jour
on ne peut plus – one not can more. on ne peut plus is an everyday French expression that isn’t that easy to translate, actually. on ne peut plus is followed by an adjective, and I would translate it on ne peut plus by ‘you can’t be more’, ‘really’, ‘typically’ , ‘extremely’, ‘so…’, or even ‘so very’.
I don’t think you’ll find this expression in your regular French textbook. but then again, this is what we’re all about, at FrenchHour : teaching authentic French, one bite at a time.
le café est on ne peut plus français – the café is typically French
c’est un endroit on ne peut plus tranquille – it’s an extremely quiet place
- « Ce petit haut est on ne peut plus français. »
- “This cute top is so very French.”
