Emmanuel Macron, an extraordinary life

I’m not a politician, but I love teaching French. So I invite you to this French lesson introducing our new president, in a light tone : -)

1. At the age of 39, Emmanuel Macron, the eighth president of the Fifth Republic becomes the youngest French president. Before, it was Louis-Napoleon Bonaparte who was the youngest president. Napoleon I’s nephew was elected president in 1848.
2. In 1992, he enrolled in the Jesuit High School “La Providence’, where he got a very strict education.
3. There, he meets Brigitte Trogneux, who is 24 years older than he is as he takes a theater class at the age of 15. Not yet a forty-something, he is a grandfather of 7 grandchildren.
4. He is interested in music and got a piano award.
5. He is a brilliant student at the ENA in Strasbourg. The ENA is the ‘National School of Administration’, a prestigious school that has produced 4 presidents, many prime ministers and ministers. He graduated in 2001.
6. In 2004, he worked at the General Inspection of Finance, for management of public finances and modernization of the administration.
7. He married Brigitte in 2007.
8. He became a business banker at Rothschild & Cie in 2008.
9. He used to be a member of the Socialist Party and has been working with François Hollande since 2012.
10. He resigned from his position as Minister of Economy in 2016 to start his own political party “En Marche !” and he won the presidential elections in less than a year.

Macron, une vie hors du commun

Je ne suis pas politicienne, mais j’adore enseigner le français. Je vous propose donc cette petite leçon de français en vous présentant notre nouveau président, sur un ton léger :–) 

1. À 39 ans, Macron, le huitième président de la Ve République devient le plus jeune président français. Avant, c’était Louis-Napoléon Bonaparte qui l’était. Le neveu de Napoléon I^er avait été élu président en 1848.
2. En 1992, Macron s’inscrit au lycée jésuite de la Providence, où il acquiert une éducation très disciplinée.
3. Il y rencontre Brigitte Trogneux, de 24 ans son aînée alors qu’il fait du théâtre à 15 ans. Pas encore quarantenaire, il est grand-père de 7 petits-enfants.
4. Il s’intéresse à la musique et a obtenu un prix de piano.
5. Il brille à l’ENA à Strasbourg. L’ENA est ‘l’École Nationale d’Administration’, une grande école prestigieuse qui a éduqué 4 présidents, de nombreux premiers ministres et ministres. Il en obtient le diplôme en 2001.
6. En 2004, il travaille à l’inspection Générale des Finances, pour la gestion des finances publiques et modernisation de l’administration.
7. Il se marie avec Brigitte en 2007.
8. Il devient banquier d’affaires chez Rothschild & Cie en 2008.
9. Il a été membre du parti socialiste et travaille avec François Hollande depuis 2012.
10. Il a démissionné de son poste de ministre de l’économie en 2016 pour former son propre parti politique « En Marche ! » et gagner les présidentielles en moins d’un an.
