  • Y is a pronoun. A pronoun replaces a noun, a word or a phrase.
  • Y is used in three instances:
    1. when it means ‘there’
    2. when it is replacing a word or a phrase introduced by À or CHEZ
    3. with idiomatic expressions such as ‘il y a’

  2. Vous pensez au travail que vous avez à faire.
