c’est le pompon - that takes the cake - Mot du Jour
c’est le pompon - that’s the pompom, the tassel. c’est le pompon means that something goes beyond, ‘that takes the cake’. Another way to say “c’est le pompon” is “c’est le bouquet“, “c’est le comble” or “ben ça, c’est la meilleure”, (la meilleure blague).
- « Alors, je récapitule : tu arrives en retard, tu n’es pas bien habillé et en plus, tu te pointes les mains vides. Ben ça, c’est le pompon. »
- “So, let me see: you are late, you are not dressed up, and on top of it, you are empty handed. Well, that takes the cake.”
