assurer - French expression
assurer – to keep up one’s end of things – French expression – Mot du Jour
assurer – to ensure. In everyday French, assurer means that someone is able to accomplish something that wasn’t easy to do. I like to translate it as ‘to keep up one’s end of things’.
- « On a décidé d’aller au Mont-Saint-Michel au dernier moment. J’ai assuré pour tout préparer : la voiture, les enfants, le pique-nique, la visite. C’était pas évident. »
- ‘We decided to go to Mont Saint-Michel at the last minute. I kept up my end of things: I prepared the car, the children, the picnic, the tour. It wasn’t easy.’
